CoxGomyl recently completed a a facade access solution for 22 Bishopsgate in London, which becomes the tallest building in London, standing at 278m tall and 62 storeys. The facade design by PLP Architecture consists of many angles creating a multi faceted facade.

Facade Access Challenges at 22 Bishopsgate

The challenges for CoxGomyl to navigate were the varying canopies and terraces throughout the building as well as a total of 23 sides to the facade. To achieve optimal facade access coverage, CoxGomyl designed and manufactured four Building Maintenance Units (BMUs) to provide flexibility amongst the limited space.

BMU Systems Across Levels 62 and 59

Two BMUs were engineered on dual tracks to traverse on level 62 which provided for a 20 metre reach and jib slewing via their 3-stage telescopic jibs. In addition lifting tables were added to provide greater high flexibility. Another building maintenance systems were installed on level 59 with similar functionalities.
