Rising above the skyline of Manama, Golden Gate Towers represents a new era of residential living in Bahrain. Developed by Golden Gate Properties & Construction in partnership with Arab Architects and Engineering Consulting Group, the twin towers stand at 49 and 58 stories, making them the tallest residential buildings in the country. The project combines modern architecture with advanced engineering and is designed to house more than 700 luxury apartments. CoxGomyl played a key role in delivering a reliable facade access solution, ensuring the development reflects the region’s vision for sustainable growth and sets new benchmarks in efficiency and long-term functionality.
The client required a roof-mounted Building Maintenance Unit (BMU) capable of handling both cleaning and glass replacement. The original plan involved a telescopic jib and mast, but CoxGomyl re-engineered the system into a lighter and more efficient 5000s model with a fixed jib and mast. This change reduced the overall weight and cost while maintaining the required performance standards. Each BMU includes a two-man cradle with a nine-meter outreach and a GRU hook capacity of 400 kilograms, providing the flexibility to perform routine cleaning and essential glass replacement safely and effectively.
Delivering the system under a tight schedule was one of the greatest challenges. By optimizing the BMU design, manufacturing was streamlined, and production lead time was reduced. Another unique aspect of this project was the building’s unusually high parapet of 13 meters, which demanded a carefully tailored design. The solution allowed the BMUs to operate seamlessly without compromising access or safety, ensuring the towers could be maintained to the highest standards from the outset.
