Twelve of these systems included specially designed low profile, twin jib trolleys that operate on a monorail track system. To reduce the visual impact of the system the available clear running width for each roof trolley was only 800mm, and when not in use, both jibs automatically fold back into the machine frame.
Access to the 45º sloping faces of the building was achieved using additional trolleys that attach to the underside of the cradle to provide a level and secure work platform.
In one location the cradle, shared between several systems on the building, was launched from within the building using an opening panel in the façade, located 69 floors above street level.
Due to the extreme space restrictions it was necessary to locate the hoist assembly in a separate machine room, and bring the hoisting ropes to the roof trolley using an intricate system of diverters.
The whole system, including the monorail track, was constructed using stainless steel and aluminium, thus providing superior corrosion resistance.
